Before I start explaining what defragging is ask yourself when the last time you ran a defragging application. Okaay let me now explain to you the purpose it serves to your system and maybe you'll do it much more frequently.

Like many, I gave into the Apple trend. I admit, I hated them - but I blame this all on my experience with them in high school and somewhat in University. I used them through Elementary school and all through High school, and used them occasionally at university if all of the PCs in the computer labs were taken. In high school, were forced to use those colorful "Tube-television" looking iMacs. These things ran OS9, and either sucked, or were just not set up correctly. They would crash at least twice a class... from doing basic surfing, and Claris Works. Instead of the blue screen of death, which Apple proudly doesn't have, we got the frozen screen of death. Being awesome computers, we had to find a paperclip to press the little tiny reset button.
After 4 more years of dissing Apples.. I got an iPod nano (which I later traded for an iPod video) from my friends for graduating.. and a few months later, I decided to get a Macbook, without having used OSX before! Why did I give in? No I didn't care about the looks.

Wow. Now that's a lot of words in a title. Anyways, a lot of people have sent me a file, created in Paint as a Bitmap (.BMP). These files are 20 times or more the size of a JPEG or GIF! What's even worse is when I can't establih a good connection with some people, this Image sometimes takes 30 minutes to download, which would normally take 10 seconds if it were saved as a JPEG or GIF.

Have you ever wondered how to install a new font for your Windows computer? Well it's fairly simple. There are many sites out there offering free font packages. Just type in free fonts, or fonts in google, and you should be able to get a whole bunch of fonts. |
