Has your iPod ever crashed or froze leaving you without your music (this has just happened to me)? You may try to drain the battery until it dies out, try to wait it out or you can reset your iPod. This should also work if your iPod won't turn on, and you know that it still has battery.
First, check to make sure that your hold switch isn't in the locked position. If it is, unlock the switch and try your controls again, or try to turn on your iPod.
** UPDATE **
To restart your iPhone:
-
Press and hold the Home button and the button on the top right of your phone. Hold until it restarts and then let go.
Now, this reset is only for iPods with the Click wheel. These include:
- Fifth Generation iPod / iPod Video
- All iPod Nanos
- iPod with color display / iPod Photo
- iPod with click wheel
- All iPod Minis
Here are the instructions on how to reset your iPod.
- Move the Hold switch to locked and then unlocked.
- Press and hold the menu and middle buttons together for about 6 to 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears.
For iPods with scroll wheel or touch wheel
- Move the Hold switch to locked and then unlocked.
- Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons together for about 6 to 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears.
If this isn't working for you, plug your iPod into a power adapter and try again.
Note: I found that my iPod wouldn't charge properly on my computer, for some strange reason, so I used a car charger or a wall charger to charge my iPod first, until it removed that black and white charging screen.
