How to Sync your Samsung T10 with WMP

Someone asked me how to sync their Samsung T10 MP3 player. Honestly, it didn't work for me either at first. But with my new Vista computer it does work. Here are instructions on how to do it using a Vista computer and Windows Media Player 11. I'm not going to bother with the Samsung software.
  1. Connect your Samsung T10 to your computer via USB. Your Windows tray should say that the device was installed successfully. If not there's already a problem there. If completed successfully, an Autoplay window may show up asking what you would like to do with the device. You may close it.
  2. Open up Windows Media Player.
  3. Click the Sync button on the right side of the top menu bar. Your Samsung T10 should appear on the right side of your Windows Media Player window.

  4. Click on your music library to display the MP3's on your computer.
  5. Drag your songs to the right. The song name should be added to the Sync List.

  6. Click Start Sync and the songs should start transfering to your Samsung T10.
  7. In the middle of the WMP Window it should tell you what songs you've recently added, and that it's safe to disconnect your T10.

The samsung T10 player depends on MTP a device protocol rolled out by Microsoft
via Windows Media Player (WMP). As of WMP11 the MTP drivers do not work with
the samsung player. Samsung suggests rolling back to WMP10. However, if you're
lucky enough to be a Vista user or Windows XP SP3 user (like most people in the
world now) you're out of luck. You can only install WMP11 and the T10 will not
work. Samsung refuses to support the changes blaming microsoft. Since the T10
isn't a microsoft product you can imagine there isn't much they are going to
do.
I have fought with Samsung Canada for 3 weeks on this issue. I suggest, if
you can, return the product for a refund. If you cannot I suggest throwing it
in the garbage and calling your local better business bureau.
Samsung service
has been terrible - and I now have a useless $150 MP3 player under warranty that
isn't supported in any current OS in the world. Good times. Samsun...
