You finally installed Microsoft Windows Vista! Great, but now your hard drive light is solid and your computer is unusuable. What Vista is doing is building an index of your files so when you do a file search it will be instantly found. I'll show you how to disable SearchIndexer.exe.

Disabling SearchIndexer.exe

  • Click Start
  • Type Services.msc in the "Start Search" text field hint: it's underneath all programs
  • Services window will appear and
  • Scroll down to the very bottom and look for "Windows Search"
  • Right click on Windows Search
  • Click Properties
  • Change Startup Type to "Disabled"
  • Click OK

Add NewSearchRSS
