Windows XP Professional or higher is the only requirement. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is by far one of the most popular terminal services out there. Why? Because it is built into Windows NT 4.0 Server / 2000 / XP/ Vista and it is very simple to setup.
This protocol does not only benefit the nerds but also day to day computer users will find it very useful. Here are few reasons why you might consider RDP:
You are at school/work/across the world and you need access to a certain file on your home computer.
You are missing certain software on your computer at school/work/notebook and you need it to complete your task.
You want to download something and have it ready by the time you get home.
You have a PVR (personal video recorder) and you won't be home in time to watch your favorite T.V. show.
This tutorial assumes you are directly connected to the Internet and you are not behind a router/firewall etc.
